An Unforgettable Moment

     I've been trying to think about a moment that was so funny that it stays ingrained in my memory and immediately I think of the time me and my friend Sabrina could not stop laughing in our AP Human Geography class. Fair warning: I still have no idea how to put into words why this resulted in such an extreme reaction from us but I will try my best. In this class, we were giving presentations. Sabrina and I sat next to each other and sometimes would pass notes or glances which enabled us to develop inside jokes throughout the year- making LOTS of events susceptible to the strange humor that seemed only understandable by us. This presentation though was being presented by someone who already made everyone laugh- and who sometimes annoyed the teacher. This was maybe key to what would happen. This group was reading off of a script and I guess this student was starting their next sentence with "hence," and had a pretty formal tone throughout but, as if it was a normal mistake or confusion of words, they said, "Hexagon,.. I mean Hence." 

HEXAGON. hexagon. Hexagon. Some of our peers giggled but obviously, there was a presentation going on so they maintained respect, Sabrina and I however were LOSING OUR MINDS at this and were left shaking with laughter at this innocent person's mistake. The switch-up of words was so ridiculous because what could they have been thinking to say the name for a 6 sided polygon instead of a transition word into a sentence in a Human Geography class. One of the other reasons for our laughter must have been the fact that our teacher was pretty strict and when you start laughing in an inappropriate situation where there could be a lot at stake- it just emphasizes the humor because you have to force yourself to stop laughing. We would continue to repeat this hexagon incidence during lunch and I'm pretty sure we brought it up to the person who said it too because it just made us so happy, and they needed to know.
